Nancy McPherson
Nancy spends much of her time directing. Her production of Linda McLean’s ‘One Good Beating’ in 2008 won the best director award at the Scottish Final of the One-Act Festival and also won the British Final.
However, her main passion is writing. Her first pantomime, ‘Calamity Jeannie’ was published in 1986 and her first play, ‘Camouflage’ – which has reached the Scottish Finals twice - was published in 1988.
Since stopping work in 2009, Nancy’s creative energy has been channelled into writing again. Her recently published ‘Becoming Maggie’, a one-act play set in the 1940s, and ‘The Night I Danced With Cyd Charisse’, collectively won seven trophies in the SCDA 2010 One-Act Festival.
Nancy has recently written three new one-act plays which are having debut performances in 2011 – one of these, ‘Waste Management’ won the Glasgow District round of the 2011 One-Act Festival, and was subsequently runner-up at the Scottish Finals in Inverness.
