Ron Nicol

 

Ron Nicol Ron Nicol spent several years in professional theatre, working in repertory, with touring productions, and in musicals, pantomime, music hall and variety. He went on to lecture in theatre with the University of St Andrews, train radio broadcasters at Glenrothes College in Fife, and produce and present programmes on Radio Tay. He was a drama adviser for the Scottish Community Drama Association and has been Principal Judge of the Geoffrey Whitworth playwriting competition since 2008. He's a graduate of Queen's University Belfast and Moray House College Edinburgh, a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators and the Scottish Society of Playwrights.

 

Ron co-founded Glenrothes Theatre Company with his wife Norma, a former professional actress, and for over thirty years has written and directed most of the group's adult and youth productions. With five writing prizes and sixty-five festival awards to his credit, he's published in the UK, the USA and the Netherlands (in Dutch) with 38 plays and pantomimes currently in print. There have been more than 200 productions of his plays and pantomimes throughout Britain, Ireland, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Germany, Holland, Luxembourg and Minorca.
