EVERGREEN PLOT RESUME
SET TIME - modern Script Sample - George as Groucho Fantasy sequence Lights down. A spotlight as Miss Cahn re-enters as Margaret Dumont MISS CAHN Ladies & Gentlemen, pray silence for that great explorer, Captain Spalding, who has come here to entertain us with his accounts of Africa. I give you, Captain Spalding. FX: music "Hurray for Captain Spalding" George returns R, complete with cigar and greasepaint moustache and starts pacing the floor, a la Groucho Marx. He stops, puts his hand to his head melodramatically then starts pacing again GEORGE My friends, I am going to tell you of that great, mysterious, wonderful continent known as Africa. Africa is God's country and he can have it. We started out on a trek. It was a pretty good trek, as treks go. I mean, you can have a running trek, or a motor racing trek or a dog trek. Finally we reached the Serengeti, whatever that is, and the Great African Bush, a distant cousin of the Great American Bush. But if you've seen one Bush you've seen 'em all. And two Bushes in ten years is enough for any country. The next day we went on safari in search of Big Game - sofari so good, I thought, but the big game was postponed because of crowd trouble. One morning I shot a tiger in my pyjamas. How he got in my pyjamas, I've no idea. Later on we hunted wildebeeste, a.k.a. gnus. There were good gnus and bad gnus. Then we penetrated into the remote jungle in search of the lost pygmy tribe, the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenies, who hadn't been seen since their last appearance as Munchkins in the Wizard of Oz. Even then it was only in a short scene. Miss Cahn walks over towards him. Don't look now but the battleship Ark Royal just docked. He sidles over to her Mrs Rittenhouse, there's something I must ask you.
End of fantasy sequence FX: lights back to normal Miss Cahn exits L and George R. He returns presently as George, followed by Willie GEORGE I wonder what her first name is. Maybe it’s Mohi.
Willie looks puzzled GEORGE Forget it, Willie. I used to know a woman once called Fiona. Fiona Will. But she wouldn’t! Not with me, anyway! (After a pause) Forget it, Willie.
