Pantomime Scripts:  Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty

by Ron Nicol

The Black Fairy doesn't receive an invitation to Mirabel's Christening, and in revenge casts a spell so that on her sixteenth birthday the Princess will prick her finger and die. Thanks to the White Fairy's intervention, she doesn't die but falls into a sleep from which she will be wakened by a prince's kiss. Nanny Bunion and Crumble are sent out to find the necessary prince, who unknown to them is already on his way. The less familiar ending is based on Perrault's version of the fairy tale in which the wicked Queen turns into an Ogre.

Sleeping Beauty

by Claire Scott

When the evil fairy Carabosse is not invited to the christening of Princess Beauty, she vows a terrible revenge, and casts a spell saying the Princess will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. Despite the efforts of the King and Queen, on her eighteenth birthday the Princess finds a spinning wheel in a tiny, dusty room, and an old hag only too happy to let her use it. And, of course, the prophecy comes true. However, the fairy godmothers use their magic to alter the spell. The Princess does not die, but falls asleep, waiting for her prince to come and wake her. And in a hundred years he does, but not before he has battled the might of Carabosse and her evil band of demons.

Sleeping Beauty

by Stephen Curtis

In the Kingdom of Avonia, not much can happen without the help of the Royal Fairies. They provide the bickering King and Queen with a beautiful baby daughter, and when the wicked Black Fairy curses the little girl, they soften its effect so that instead of dying she will sleep for a hundred years. This is not good enough for the King. He doesn’t want to wait a hundred years. He decides to banish the Fairies and save the Princess in his own way. But his methods make the Princess bored and unhappy ... until a handsome prince arrives on her sixteenth birthday. Nor can her fate be avoided. The Fairies are summoned back to send the whole court to sleep. A hundred years later, the handsome Prince awakes and, with the help of the Fairies, awakens the Princess so all ends happily.

Sleeping Beauty

by Dave Buchanan

The Kingdom of Kirkconia celebrates the birth of three royal children but makes the mistake of not inviting Grotte the Grim, the evil witch of the South West. Eighteen years later Grotte takes a terrible revenge and Princess Melody and the whole court fall asleep. In this delightful new version, however, the Princess's two brothers William and Rupert do not fall asleep. With the help of a good fairy, they are joined by suitor Prince Charlie in an epic quest to track down Grotte and cancel her evil spell. A pantomime that is lively, inventive, and ideal for a young, teenage cast.
